How do Spanish organisations deal with climate and nature-related financial risks?

Within the current climate, ecological and health crisis context and given the need to contribute to a green and low-carbon recovery, members of the Technical Committee 6 of Conama 2020 on «The future of climate and nature-related risks and their financial impacts” have launched a consultation that addresses these critical issues.

The response to these emergencies cannot be a reconstruction based on “business as usual”, i.e., business and financial models based on approaches that exacerbate climate change and the loss of biodiversity. The desired transformation involves organisations recognizing the growing climate and nature-related risks and promoting an orderly change that contributes to resilient economies and financial systems that are nature-positive rather than harm nature.

The recent consultation launched by TC6 of Conama 2020, which is coordinated by Ecoacsa and the Natural Capital Factory, seeks to know the level of knowledge that Spanish organisations have about climate and nature-related risks and their financial impact, and the opportunities related to their proper management.

Responses collected will be used to prepare an informative document, which will be presented at the

Results of the survey will be used to prepare an informative document that aims to be a useful tool to all economic and social actors. The document will be presented at the 15th edition of the National Environmental Congress in April 2021.
