From traditional garden and park management to an integral management of green infrastructure
Historic and unique gardens, as well as green infrastructures, are part of our cultural and natural heritage.
They play a decisive social role, as they are intimately linked to people´s health and well-being, and to social and economic development.
Their sustainable management, maintenance, preservation and restoration are vital in shaping an urban environment which prioritizes our cities´ renaturation.
This approach -which guarantees multiple social benefits regarding health and enjoyment, as well as meeting other challenges such as the protection of biodiversity, ecosystems and their services, or climate change resilience- needs trained professionals who are up to date with new outlooks, trends and innovations in these fields.
There is a high demand, both in public and private sectors, for profiles familiar with the specificities of historic and natural monuments´ management, as well as of the ecosystem services provided by green infrastructure.
The study programme´s main objective is to train specialists in the preservation, management, maintenance and restoration of unique and historic gardens and green infrastructures´ landscape and tree heritage, in urban and peri-urban areas.
This Master´s is the University´s own highest postgraduate educational degree within its field, and its objective is to provide students with a specialized and multi-disciplinary advanced training, and an academic or professional specialization equivalent to Level 7 European Qualification Framework (EQF). Once the Master´s is successfully completed, students will be awarded the Polytechnic University of Madrid Master´s Degree in Historic Gardens and Ecosystem Services provided by Green Infrastructure, signed by the University´s (UPM) Rector.
