In a context shaped by the urgent need to advance both the energy transition and biodiversity protection, the energy sector plays a strategic role. Managing nature-related impacts and dependencies is no longer solely an environmental matter, but also a key factor in corporate resilience, competitiveness, value creation, and access to finance.
In this framework, on 5 March 2026, we are co-organising, together with Azentúa, the event “Integrating nature into the energy transition: a common framework for the sector,”which will take place at the School of Industrial Organization (Madrid).
During the event, the report Natural capital and the Spanish energy sector. Integration and valuation of natural resourceswill be presented. The document compiles the main results of a collaborative effort carried out by seven major Spanish energy companies –EDP, Enagás, Endesa, Iberdrola, Naturgy, Redeia y Repsol–, coordinated by Azentúa and Ecoacsa, with the aim of advancing towards a common approach to integrating nature into corporate decision-making.
In addition to representatives from the companies participating in the working group, as well as from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the event will also feature contributions from representatives of the Grupo Consultivo Europeo en materia de Información Financiera (EFRAG, por sus siglas en inglés), y del Grupo de Trabajo sobre Divulgación Financiera relacionada con la Naturaleza (Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures, TNFD).
Throughout the morning, the programme will combine strategic vision, regulatory context and practical experience. We will also open a space to share lessons learned, compare approaches and jointly explore how integrating nature can become a genuine competitive advantage, while providing a useful reference framework for other industries seeking to advance in this type of analysis
