Nature HUB brings training in nature-based solutions applied to the agri-livestock sector closer to young talent at UPM

The Nature HUB team participated in the “Your Future in Green: Technology, Nature and Industry in the Ecological Transition” employment fair,, organizada por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ETSIMFMN), con el objetivo de acercar al alumnado oportunidades de desarrollo profesional en el ámbito ambiental.

The event featured a comprehensive programme of activities, including several roundtable discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities of the ecological transition, addressing topics such as land management, green infrastructure, the role of data, and sustainability measurement.

In this context, nature-based solutions (NbS) were addressed as a cross-cutting approach, highlighted as a key framework for tackling environmental challenges from a practical and results-oriented perspective.

In parallel, the Nature HUB team was present with its own stand, where it showcased its free training programme, jointly developed by Fundación Andanatura, Fundación Agroecosistemas, aleJAB and Ecoacsa. The programme is designed to strengthen skills in the agri-livestock sector through nature-based approaches.

Through outreach materials and direct conversations with students and interested participants, the team conveyed the programme’s practical approach, focused on identifying, improving and enhancing practices that use natural processes to optimise farm management, productivity and profitability, while generating benefits for biodiversity and society. The training offer is based on accessible, online and flexible learning, enabling participants to acquire knowledge that can be applied from the outset. online y flexible, que permite adquirir conocimientos aplicables desde el primer momento.

The programme includes two specific courses on nature-based solutions for the agri-livestock sector, with complementary approaches. The first course provides an introduction to NbS as a tool for the ecological transition, covering their foundations, benefits and practical applications, as well as the design and implementation of these solutions in real farming systems.

The second course focuses on the measurement and valuation of these practices, emphasising the importance of observing, recording and analysing the information generated in day-to-day farm activities. This approach enables participants to understand how to translate their practices into useful data to support better decision-making, optimise outcomes, and access new opportunities related to certification, financing or differentiated markets.

Beyond technical content, both courses include dedicated modules aimed at developing key professional skills such as communication, teamwork and decision-making, as well as content related to equal opportunities in rural areas. This integrated approach seeks not only to strengthen technical capacities but also to enhance employability and adaptability in increasingly dynamic and diverse working environments—key aspects highlighted by representatives of companies and institutions participating in the roundtables.

Nature HUB offers a training programme that combines applied knowledge, practical tools and personal development, aligned with the current needs of the agri-livestock sector and with emerging demands linked to the ecological transition.

For those interested in improving their professional profile and accessing new opportunities in the sector, the programme offers free, online courses, onlineco-funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) through the Empleaverde+ Programme of Fundación Biodiversidad, under the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD).

Integrating nature into the city: a technical challenge that opens up new professional opportunities

The Spanish energy sector advances in integrating nature into strategic management
