28 Mar European Business and Nature Summit
The Business and Biodiversity Platform of the European Union (B @ B), Ecoacsa, Fundación Empresa y Clima and the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition — through the Spanish Initiative for Business and Biodiversity (IEEB) – join forces to organize the international conference European Business and Nature Summit (EBNS) on November 7 and 8, 2019. This two-day meeting on companies, biodiversity and natural capital will take place at CaixaForum Madrid, in the very center of the Spanish capital.
During the last United Nations (UN) Conference on Biodiversity in 2018, the Action Agenda for Nature and People was launched. This agenda aims to catalyze a stream of (voluntary) actions from all sectors and stakeholders, aimed at supporting biodiversity conservation and the adoption of an ambitious post-2020 global biodiversity framework at the UN Biodiversity Conference of China in 2020. This new global framework will, in turn, be the basis for the post-2020 Biodiversity Strategy of the European Union.
The European Business and Nature Summit will contribute to all this and will value the best practices, tools and existing metrics to generate a positive business impact on biodiversity. The conference will thus contribute to enhancing the involvement of EU governments and businesses on biodiversity and natural capital.
Building on the global momentum created in the run-up to the next UN Conference on Biodiversity, the summit will help shape the New Deal for Nature and People, as well as strengthen the call for voluntary action by the sector. business in favor of biodiversity.
This two-day summit will bring together key representatives from the EU business world, governments and other civil society actors to facilitate more decisive global action to curb the loss of biodiversity and restore healthy ecosystems.
The European Business and Nature Summit will offer:
A forum to discuss the latest progress made by companies to better integrate their impacts and dependencies on nature;
An opportunity to reinforce political ambition to protect biodiversity and shape the New Deal for Nature and People;
A regional springboard to boost the contribution of companies to the protection of biodiversity and natural capital, in the global advance towards the post-2020 biodiversity framework.
An opportunity to engage a broad European audience to address biodiversity loss.
The agenda of the European Business and Nature Summit is under development. Stay tuned!
